Belem, Brazil

A short distance up the mouth of the Amazon River, Belem is not a city with high rise buildings and folks eager to display their wealth.  Judging strictly by the pictures, it has three high rise buildings, and the balance are primarily native structures suggesting that survival mode is in force.  The waterfront reveals riverside cottages which float at high tide and may rock the residents to sleep at night.  The excursion from the Quest was a walking tour of the city, its people, and markets.  A slice of this reality should be seen on a regular basis.
