Hays, Kansas

Hays is the preferred stopping point between Kansas City and Denver if you travel from city to city.  I70 passes just north of town.  The unique sights along the roads into and out of Hays were the auto salvage sign just north of town and a number of the distinctive and creative mail boxes which decorated an otherwise less interesting drive north toward Plainville.  These boxes decorated the road in 2001, but are now gone.  Efforts to spice up the scenery along Kansas Highways may also be seen at Kansas Scenic Highway 18.  The leaning tower barn pictured there has since fallen completely over.  The dragon along Kansas Highway 18 was spectacular, and is pictured last here.
