Day three took us to La Rochelle on the SW French Atlantic coast. Stops en-route included a cognac chateau and picturesque villages. Featured here are la cite de l’huitre, a fishing village with a serious coastal tide, boats in the mud or water with the tide, and farmed oysters by the basket. The port city of la Rochelle displays select historic structures. Finally we visited the Ile de Re, a picturesque peninsula village not far from la Rochelle.
