Our first day south of Paris took us through the Loire Valley, site of many chateaus and vinyards. We made three notable stops en-route and following our first overnight in Amboise. In order, the following pictures show 1) the Notre Dame Cathedrale in Chartres, an example of Gothic architecture, 2) dining in La Cave au Fauees, a cave restaurant formerly used for storage and aging of wine, and 3) the Chateaux de Chenonceaux, a magnificent structure spanning across a river the size of most large city museums. Most chateaux’s are much smaller, but all are affiliated with a vinyard and the production of wine.
