Malta’s huge protected harbor at Valletta offers as picturesque and interesting a port as may be found. Only one small part of the harbor shows the usual industrial and commercial activity. Limestone is one of the few building materials available on the island, and colors most all structures a thousand shades of gray, beige, and tan. Our one day port visit featured the usual tours of churches, old fortresses and excavated ruins, but the distinctive view around the harbor was a clear highlight.
