The Sicilian town of Taormina is as picturesque as any on earth. Our Hotel Ariston was perched on the side of the mountain, had a view of the mainland of Italy to the east, and was itself a magnificent facility. A public park was filled with well preserved picturesque structures, Mount Etna and the development on the eagle’s perch high above Taormina to the west were spectacular. The city center had a plaza with a view to the south and east. With ancient ruins, a cable car to the beach, and a few days to spend, the setting was incomparable.
