We made a single port call in Thailand in April 2010 across the peninsula from the tidal wave that struck earlier. An excursion from the Quest took us to a Buddhist temple, a cashew picking factory and shop, and a single stop near the top of the peninsula for a view of the surroundings. Seeing the Siamese in full costume with fingers that curl backward and who dance exotic was well worth the price of omission. Understanding that cashews are picked one at a time from individual nuts by working girls at machines was a revelation. May Buddha bless them, but somebody has to do it!
