Yangtze River: Below the Dam

Our flight on Wuhan Air in 2002 took us from Shanghai to Wuhan.  From there we were bussed to our river boat where we spent the first evening.  The river below the dam is primarily delta with fertile farm land, farmers, crops, animals, and river traffic.  The surprise along the river was contouring the river banks to provide efficient run off below the dam.  The Chinese government decided to tile the river banks.  With millions of folks available to tile the river, most all the work was being done by hand, – manual labor.  It is a pictorial study of a project you would never see except in China.  Talk of shovel-ready jobs? Millions!! Check for government supervision!
